Jack & Eli's 2nd Birthday!

It has happened. My itty bitty twin baby boys have turned into giant two year old toddlers. It was really rough to be away from them the majority of the day when all I wanted to do was be home and celebrate them. It was a rainy and cold day and I wished I could cuddle up on the couch all day with them. But they had a great day being babysat by Nana Willa and Uncle Jake until mommy and daddy got home from work and school. I decorated their door with streamers and balloons to wake up to and had some new coloring books for them to enjoy inside since it was crappy weather. Zach texted me pictures from the morning reactions I had to miss out on.
After work I changed them into their birthday shirts that I made them! Tried to get some pictures so you could read the shirts but they were much more interested in eating their crackers than cooperating. They are hilarious.
"I am this many", "Two whole years of awesome"
As soon as Zach got home, we headed to the Jump Zone! It wasn't crowded at all and the boys got to explore what it was all about for their first time without getting run over by too many big kids. They loved climbing up the hills and sliding down on their bellies, galloping around the trampolines (trying to get the hang of jumping on them), got brave enough to try jumping into the foam pits, and even wanted to try the rope swing. It was a perfect activity for 2 year olds!
We then got dinner at Firehouse Subs and it was super yummy.
Then we made it home just in time for family to come over and party! My parents, Zach's parents, Jake, and Emily came over all bearing cards and gifts. It was the first time the boys totally understood that opening something wrapped meant they got a new toy or something cool. It was a blast watching them be so excited and happy over even the simplest things. They were so spoiled by so many people who love them.
"cuuuuute" to all their new clothes from Nana Lisa.
Jack appreciating the hard work that went into Nana Willa's homemade card.
Loved their very own Cars flashlights from uncle Jake. They thought it was so cool to be in the dark bathroom by themselves and shine it around on the walls.
Auntie Em wrapped their gifts in bags full of pictures of peanuts. HA! Luckily no epi-pens were needed :) She got them the funniest minion glasses and harmonicas. They couldn't figure out how to make the harmonicas work and instead held them up to everyone else's mouth to take a turn. (They now can play them like champs...it's really fun to listen to....)
We got them little backpacks with some new books inside.
And if that wasn't enough...the big finale was a tool bench!! They were so thrilled the picture is even blurry of them racing to it.
After playing with presents for a bit we got out the cake. They were a little confused why everyone was singing to them all at once and a little weary of the candles. But they managed to blow them out on their own and plowed down their own giant piece (x2) with a fork like true big kids.
It was impossible to get a "perfect" picture together by the end of the night. We had tears and whining from staying up past bedtime and too much sugar. But it's the memory that counts.
