Jonah

Our 8 month old nephew Jonah (Zach's sister's second child) was born with a heart defect. I don't understand the exact details, but it has given him a very rough start on life. When he was born he had to have heart surgery and now he has grown enough to have his second heart surgery. They are having to fly to California to have a rare operation done on him, and if it is successful, the docotors will have built him a full four chamber heart and will be able to live almost a completely normall life. They feel it is worth a shot, given the options for Jonah. Today, we had a big family fast for Jonah and their family as they prepare to leave this week for the surgery on Thursday. All of us got together tonight and Jonah, his 3 year old sister, mom, and dad, all recieved individual priesthood blessings. It was such a special experience to be there to support them in this. The love and spirit in that room was so strong. There was not a dry eye once the blessings were completed.
Fasting today, feeling impressions in church, and being there for the blessings tonight, I have just been very full of gratitude for the gospel. I have been full of peace today as I've been reminded of the love Heavenly Father has for us, and how he is very aware of the trials we face in this life. It has been such a comfort and blessing to have the knowledge that families are eternal, that the power of the priesthood is real, and that there is a reason for everything in this life. We pray and have faith that everything will go well with Jonah this week, but also know that we will need to expect the Lord's will in this. We feel so blessed to feel His love and His guiding hand. I don't know how people go through this life without the hope the gospel can bring. We are so blessed.
Little Jonah
