There 'go home' outfits. They are premie size and we have to squeeeeeze Jack into it, but it fits Eli just right. Right when we got home, we took this picture laying on a blanket in the living room.
Lots of swaddle time in the bouncers. This is where they've taken alot of day time naps. They love them.
First night time snuggles with mom and dad. Such a happy feeling to be home together for the first time.
First night getting ready for bed, Eli decided to pee all over his face and head. This is the moment right after (see the wet spot?). Then minutes later our bed was pooped on. We were cracking up!
They've had lots of loves from daddy. He is absolutely smitten by his boys and loves every second of getting to be with them. He's been an absolute hero with still going to school, working around the clock at home with the boys and house work, night time feedings. loving me and dealing with my hormones. I couldn't have gotten through week one without him.
We love setting them by each other and seeing them snuggles. Cutest thing in the world.
Zach got them yawning at the same time. Priceless.
Eli loves to pull these thoughtful poses. He has the best faces when sleeping that look so concerning.
They loves their hands by there faces and we try so hard to limit the scratches but its inevitable. When we swaddle them tight, they struggle and grunt until they get those hand out and up by their faces.
Looking so cute together.
Their stares kill us. They are already getting so much more alert after feedings and they have the most beautiful eyes that just stare at us. They freeze and look so wise/thoughtful and it makes us laugh and so happy in the middle of night as we feed them.
They got to meet great grandma and grandpa christensen.

Great grandma millgate
And of course our parents and all our siblings. Also Jamie and Brent, Brooke and Brandon, Heather, and Stacy.
They had their first baths. They love it most when daddy does baths. He takes his sweeeet time and is so gentle with them they just love it.
They had a newborn photoshoot with Holli. Can't wait to see them!
It's my favorite having them on my chest like this. Heaven on earth.
First family cuddle session. I couldn't be more in love with my little family.
On their one week birthday we took them on their first walk. It took like an hour to get ready, and the walk lasted about 5 minutes. We better get used to that :)
They had their first doctor appointment with Dr. McKenna (my uncle!). We were ready and out the door on time for out 9am appointment! I was so impressed. Jack still weighs his birth weight at 7 lbs. 8 oz. and Eli has gained 4 oz. and now weighs 6 lbs. 5 oz. They have survived their first week of life and are doing great!
Feeding has been a learning experience. We started switching between breastfeeding and feeding with a bottle of my pumped milk then finishing them off with formula if it wasn't enough. Now I have enough milk that we can feed them only breast milk which is great. They are troopers and are doing great taking whatever we throw at them and we are getting better every time. I'm learning it's definitely more convenient and helpful to feed with the bottles because more people can help. As long as they are getting it, I'm happy with that.

Call me crazy, but reading this just makes me want to cry! Both because it's so beautiful to have a little one at home (let alone two) and also because it can be a hard experience, too. Reading this makes me so grateful for you and for the sacrifice you are making to be a mom (and dad) to these two wonderful little boys. I know sacrifice seems like a funny word to use because we often, rightly, think of having babies as a blessing, but it is a hard thing, as well, to be a new mom with crazy emotions and so many new responsibilities to deal with. Mostly I want to cry because those little guys are so precious! Congrats you guys!
ReplyDeleteSqueeeeeeeee. They're so perfect. And you are a super hero!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations cute family!
They are so adorable. So happy for you guys! If you are breastfeeding... You have to get the huge boppy pillow called my Breast friend! (If you don't already have it) best thing ever.
ReplyDeleteAhh I didn't notice this post yesterday! They are so amazing and so are you! Can I have a baby?
