We got a call on Friday saying the room we had booked got double booked. We were so looking forward to that room (with a jacuzzi!) so we were super bummed. But they were willing to pay for it if we could stay Saturday night instead. So we decided to change our plans a bit and get another room for Friday and stay in that room on Saturday. Our one night getaway turned into 2 nights instead!
We booked a normal room at a different hotel for Friday night and it ended up being my favorite. It was the Hyatt Hotel and has only been open for 8 months. Everything was so clean, sleek, and new! We loved the modern feel to it. We checked in around 5 then went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. It was such a short wait and absolutely delicious as always. I got the Thai dish that is divine. We also ordered 3, yes 3, pieces of cheesecake to go :)
Walking out with 4 bags of food was pretty funny.
Took the food back to the hotel room fridge and then shopped till we dropped at City Creek. Stayed until closing at 10:00pm. I've just got to say that Zach is the best husband in the world to shop with! He was happy the entire time of endless stores and decisions. I really wanted/needed new work clothes and he was more than willing to help and do that with me. Carrying all my crap the whole time, going back and forth from the dressing rooms to get different sizes for me, searching through endless racks of clothes, etc. I felt like a really lucky girl. I loved getting to spend so much time shopping without the hassle of toddlers! Oh it was wonderful. After shopping, we got to shove our faces with cheesecake. Such a great day.
Zach being hilarious trying on grandma blazers. The one I found was actually quite cute haha!
I was the most excited to wake up the next morning whenever I wanted and not have to rush out of bed to take care of kids. It was such a refreshing feeling to get to relax in the morning! After checking out we headed back for even more shopping at City Creek. Spent the good part of the day looking through basically every store, just because we could, and just enjoying the day together. We loved going through he furniture stores and imaging our future home when we are rich and can have whatever we like :) So much fun.
Zach was obsessed the with the leather furniture in this room and it was also full of airplane parts and decorations. Super cool.
We will one day own a couch like this. It was all down feathers inside and seriously so comfortable!!
By 3:00 we were able to check into the original hotel we planned to stay in, the Hilton Garden Inn. We were both hungry so had an early dinner at Red Iguana, which is somewhere we've been wanting to try for a while. Our waiter was awesome and let us try all 7 different moles that they make there. We learned we aren't big fans of mole....but what we ordered was delicious! Great mexican food and we got stuffed quick.
You haven't properly celebrated an event without a selfie session. Waiting in the car for our turn to get in the restaurant.
the 7 moles
Then we went looking for some new glasses for me and had luck at Sams Club. Once again....Zach is so patient with me trying on a million pairs over and over until I was satisfied. Then we headed to the Real Salt Lake game! Wahoo! Our seats were really close and we had a blast as usual. The game was a little bit of a let down because we lost though. Bummer.
We had mangos and sticky rice take out from our favorite Thai restaurant for dessert before bed and passed out and slept like a rock. All the fun really wore me out I guess.
It was so fun to see Jack and Eli the next morning when we picked them up from my parents. They had a blast being with them all weekend and it as so nice of my parents to watch them for us. That was the first time we were away over night (let alone 2 nights!) We missed them and I swear they got even cuter during that time away.
