Grandma Camp

Last Thursday my mother-in-law put on a "Grandma Camp" for all the grandkids (who didn't have to take naps during the day). She asked me to help her out and it was such a blast! I love getting to spend time with my nieces and nephews--they are so fun! She had such a fun day planned for them. The overall theme was air and she would have them think about each activity and talk about what it had to do with air.

When everyone got there, we first had them make every letter of the alphabet with their bodies. They were so into this and got very creative! We did a few with Jonah and Maelee before they went home with their moms. Here is "L" and "E".

One of the biggest hits of the day was this huge block of ice that was frozen with treasures inside. They each had a wooden mallet and also little droppers to put warm water on the ice to get out the goods. They loved banging away at this! They eventually got it down into chunks and started throwing it against the driveway--it was a faster method :)

They decorated shirts with Elmers glue, then once they were dry they got to tie die them with colored spray. Then when you dry the shirt in the drier, the glue comes off and their picture is white on their colored shirt. Some of them made big puddles with the glue and since it was a pretty rainy day, they didn't dry very fast. I used the blow drier to help things out a bit but we ended up just having to send them home to complete once they got fully dry.

It poured for an hour or more during the day which put a damper on the planned outside activities. But once it stopped we were out there enjoying the dry weather. They  made snake bubbles and played with a bubble rocket you jump on for it to blast into ther air. They had fun lining up at the end of the driveway and running as fast as they could to jump on it.

We played with a 'water pinata' for a good while. We filled up grocery sacks with water and they took turns smacking at it till the water was all out. It was so fun to watch this!

We took personalized orders for lunch and had "Up" cupcakes for dessert.

Some other things we did: made paper pinwheels, watched a short balloon movie, played with a huge parachute, had a bug hunt, read some stories, played tag, shalke, and played with water balloons. Thanks for letting me be a part of such a fun day!
