Parenting 101

Last week Zach and I got to practice being parents to our adorable niece and nephew. Their parents enjoyed a vacation to Mexico for the week while we lived at their house and took care of their 3 and 1 year old. It was quite the adjustment going from no kids to 2 kids with a husband who's gone at work 11 hours every day! It was definately great practice for when I get to be a mommy to my own kids one day. Andrew was such a great little helper. He knew the answer to just about any question I had throughout the week. They both kept me laughing with their creative, imaginative, and silly personalities. Here are some of the highlights from the week.

Maelee learning to walk. When her parents left she could do about 8 steps and when they got home she is now almost always walking!

Pioneer Day parade. Came home with a new water bottle, frisbee, book, ball, and candy!

The kids putting their hand on their heart as the flag went by. So cute

Sitting in the shade and getting hydrated. It was so hot!!

Willow Park Zoo. Monkeys were the highlight for Andrew. Also got to feed the ducks.

Lunch at McDonalds with my mom and sister. Andrew loved my sister and after she left referred to her as "your nice friend". Maelee loved my mom and this made Emily pretty jealous :)

Bike rides and the park.

Making forts/huts/offices/you name it with Andrew. At one point it was a 'mouse hut' and I was ordered to deliver him cheese and other surprises outside the hut door. Then he would creep out and get his delivery.

Maelee wearing everything and anything as a necklace. Even Andrew's tool belt served as a stylish neckalce for this cute girl.

Making our own "Wipe Out" courses for Andrew

Making a welcome home sign. Andrew had to measure the wall to see where it would fit.
