Got up and headed to get in line at the Eiffel Tower. It was really exciting to see it in person! The lines were hecka confusing and no one knew what was going on. A lady had climbed up earlier that morning and was threatening to jump...so lots of police there and a helicopter had to come and get her down eventually. Luckily nothing too eventful happened.
While waiting during all this, my dad made friends with this man. In fact he made friends with other men too and was given business cards left and right :)
Finally in and starting our elevator rides up to the top!
Then we got lunch, had naps, and went to The Louvre. It is huge. Ginormous. The inside was so beautiful and the art of course beautiful as well. The Mona Lisa, as everyone says, is very small. It's so silly seeing a huge crowd packed like sardines trying to see her. I'm glad we got to go!
"Beware of pickpocketers" best sign ever
We went through listening with headphones about the different pieces.
Can you see her??
Inside the pyramid.
I guess people do this? Why not.
Then we headed to this church and I can't remember the name of it. Its up on a hill that overlooks Paris. It was beautiful. No pictures aloud inside, but there were nuns in the front singing. A lot of the congregation would sing along and worship with them. There were workers who would walk around and say "SHHH" to anyone attempting to talk, whisper, or breathe. Even if you were only 3 years old. It was pretty funny.
There were lots of shops around it and we had fun shopping again. Loved looking at the art. Of course got gelato. Best yet--nutella gelato! Nutella is wonderful and I had never seen a bigger jar of it in my life. Happy day.
Emily got a cat keychain made out of pipe cleaners....she thought it was bomb diggity but don't know why. She named it Che Fach which means "how are you" in Romanian. It somehow became our go-to phrase for every circumstance during our vacation.
Then we saw the Arc De Triumphe. Coool
Then we searched and searched for this chinese restaurant the Judkins recommended to us. Only problem was they only told us where it was by their memory. Luckily we found a nice English speaking French man who showed us where a chinese restaurant was. We don't think it was the same one but boy was it delis. It was so dark and fancy and quiet. We whispered the whole meal and were on our best behavior.
Then we went on boat tour on the Seine River. How cool is that? They talked about everything important as you passed it and it went until sunset. Magical. If only my love was with me. Emily had to do :)
There are bridges that people put pad locks on to represent 'locking' their love. Cute.
Then we got to see the Eiffel Tower light up as we ate nutella and banana crepes. Pretty perfect day if you ask me.
